what has everyone heard on turco? trade? cut? what the hell is going on!!!
Honestly, I think he will be released. Unless if a team like Edmonton would want to take him on in a trade. The Oilers are litterally dumping everything they have and starting over. Of course will they want to hold on to Sheldon Souray for the next 3-4 years at $5+million per season, when they can take the expiring contract of Marty Turco? It would be neat to see. But, I would not be surprised if there is nobody wanting to deal for Turco.
i think they will try to trade him. contract is ending. he will make $1.2 mill after the trade deadline. maybe get some you guys, or draft picks. i don't see him coming back so something is better then just letting him go after the season ends.
I hate to say it but I don't see Marty going on to another season with the Stars and I love him like crazy. He's just had way too many games where he's had 5+ goals scored on him and we're not even to the Olympics yet. I think Alex Auld performed AMAZINGLY tonight and I have to say I was very impressed from the start of the second period on. When my husband and I first saw him in the net we were pretty concerned. Then giving up 2 goals in the first and we knew it was a done deal. But what a come back! And the way he handled himself in the shootout was incredible. He looked very composed and calm in the net there. I also think, and this is in regards to a comment I heard on 1310 on the way home from the game, the defensemen seem to have gotten almost a little too comfortable with Marty in the net. It seems like at times they will give him a lot of room around the net that he, in previous seasons, has been able to defend himself. With Auld in, they don't have that security blanket, if you will, that they've become accustomed to, so they play a little closer to the net. I can't say I think Marty's bad run is just Marty's fault. When you have awesome games, people will expect awesome things from you and nothing less. I think that's something that's really got him in a bind right now.
I tend to agree, I think Marty's tenure here is done. My question is does Nieuwendyk:
I'm concerned that we do not have anyone ready to take the starting role like we did with Marty and Belfour earlier in the decade. Sure, Auld did well tonight, and really as a whole this season so far in the few chances we've given him; but he's had a handful of awful games too. Are those his fault? The teams fault? Not sure ... I'm just saying I don't think I trust Auld as our next tenured goalie, yet.
I dont know Marty has been making me cry latetly...I love him as a person but i cant stand him as a player..We need to get a good starting goalie someone super awsome :D..i guess mean while we find him we should have Auld as the started and bring Climie he did very well those last games he played for the Stars last season
I think Marty will be traded. Some bubble team might want a back up with the experiance that Turco has. We have 2 of the best goalies in the AHL down in Austin and I think they should have atleast one up here this season to see if he will do as good here. Marty is one of the nicest guys on the team. But nice people don't always equal good players. I hate to see him go but I think it might be time. I see us getting maybe a young guy or draft picks for him. I don't see us getting the D-man we so badly need.
Auld is a solid back up, but not a starter. But Marty hasn't acted like one this year either. It wasn't until after the All Star break last year when he started playing well. Maybe he'll pick it back up. I hope so. We all know what he's done in the post season. But we have to get there first. And with the youth of our d how far can we really hope to go? I wish we still had Ellis or Smith. I love Marty and would like to see him win a Cup here. I think we cut Belfour loose a little prematurely after one under par season. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
i don't know why but our opinons don't go very far. but they are fun.
Looks like Marty isn't going anywhere this year. Auld cleared waivers and is waiting to see if he clears re-entry waivers. If he clears then he'll likely spend the rest of the season in Austin. Auld said this one is tough because he never felt more at home with a team so fast. Now there are trade rumors about Steve Ott. The Stars aren't sure they'll be able to re-sign him with their budget at the money he wants, and deserves. That would REALLY bum me out. But it's a business and I wouldn't blame Ott a bit for wanting to get paid while he can.
Auld got picked up by the Rangers. And I just read that Steve Ott agreed to a 4 year contract extension. That's good news on an otherwise crappy morning. Screw Sidney Crosby!
